Dagoberto Rodríguez

Broadcasting the unknown

1 artist | 3 locations | Sculpture, video & paintings

Broadcasting the Unknown, Curated by Emanuela Mazzonis, explores the relationship between communication, technology, power and humanity in an increasingly connected world.

Inspired by the unique history of the Junglinster–Betzdorf region, home to Luxembourg’s iconic RTL radio antennas and SES’s global satellite communications infrastructure, the exhibition transforms invisible signals, communication networks and advanced technologies into physical and symbolic forms.

Through video installations, paintings and sculptures, Dagoberto Rodríguez reflects on technological progress, surveillance, the control of narratives and humanity’s vulnerability in an era shaped by digital transformation and the climate crisis.

3 locations, 3 perspectives

The exhibition unfolds across two main venues in the municipalities of Junglinster and Betzdorf, with a third presentation in Luxembourg City during Luxembourg Art Week.

  • Annexes of château de Bourglinster, Municipality of Junglinster

Visitors will encounter a major installation of satellites on terracotta, alongside oil and acrylic paintings and video works. Here, the geographical landscape is mediated and transformed by technology and global connectivity.

  • Al Kierch, Roodt/Syre, Municipality of Betzdorf

At Al Kierch, Rodríguez presents El gimnasio del pensamiento (The Gymnasium of Thought), an immersive installation reflecting on the enduring power of ideas, literature and education. Drawing on architectural elements and watercolors, the work evokes a mental landscape where memory, knowledge, education and imagination intersect.

  • Luxembourg Art Week (LAW), Luxembourg City

During Luxembourg Art Week, sculptures from Rodríguez’s LEGOS series will be presented in the courtyard of the Luxembourg City Museum, extending the exhibition into a third location and bringing the artist’s work into dialogue with the urban environment

Together, these three locations offer complementary perspectives on the relationship between technology, territory and human thought, connecting landscapes shaped by global networks with the intellectual and cultural worlds we build through education, memory and imagination.
